Emerging from Hong Kong in the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s, Grasshopper achieved notable success as a Cantopop trio. The group, which formed in 1985, consists of Edmond So, born on May 3, 1966; Calvin Choy, born January 3, 1965; and Remus Choy, born February 6, 1967. After gaining recognition at the New Talent Singing Awards, the members secured a deal with PolyGram Records in 1987. Their first album came out in 1988, followed by a second release before the year concluded. The year 1990 saw their expansion into the Taiwanese music scene, where they maintained a presence for most of the following years. Despite pausing their music careers following a period of achievement, the trio avoided a permanent split and has reconvened from time to time.
