Biography
Graves at Sea emerged as a thunderous sludge and doom quartet hailing from Portland, Oregon, where they first established themselves within the Pacific Northwest's hidden metal underground. The group came together in 2002 when longtime associates Nick Phit and Nathan Misterek joined forces with Roger Williams and Steve Klatz. Over the following decade, from 2004 through 2014, they put out multiple split 7-inch singles and EPs on their own as well as through imprints such as Southern Lord and 20 Buck Spin. During that span the lineup faced a dissolution and several member shifts, though vocalist Misterek and guitarist Phit remained the only constants from the original roster. Eventually the band secured a contract with Relapse Records, which paved the way for the long-awaited arrival of their first full-length album, Curse That Is, in 2015.
