From his Toronto base, Greg Gow has upheld the essence of Detroit techno across the twenty-first century as a leading presence in electronic music. Shaped early on by the guidance of Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, and Carl Craig, he has forged a consistent path that encompasses both live and studio recordings of his own dance material, appearances at festivals worldwide, and stewardship of the techno imprint Restructured.

A youthful devotee of hip-hop and vinyl collecting, Gow became captivated by the diverse sonic palette emerging from Detroit during the mid- and late 1980s and early 1990s. Eager to blend those influences with the indigenous dance scene in Toronto, he launched Restructured in 2001, issuing his own 12” singles alongside material by Mateo Murphy and Ian O’Donovan. Subsequent output appeared on additional imprints as well: the 2009 Pilgrimage EP, which included the track “The Bridge,” marked one of his initial releases on May’s revived Transmat label, while Fear/Reflektionz/Rings of Saturn and Three Ways to Skin a Cat arrived on Saunderson’s KMS imprint in 2013 and 2014. Further highlights encompass the 2017 full-length Lost Days and the 2020 EP Bass Jumping for Poker Flat Recordings.

Outside of 12” singles and EPs, Gow contributes live sets and studio mixes to the podcast This Is Modulations and maintains an active festival schedule throughout North and South America, Europe, and Asia, including a recurring local engagement at Toronto’s Vertigo club.
