Biography
Grupo Alamo, a Tejano ensemble, came together in 1993 inside San Antonio, Texas. Early performances took the group to modest venues, where members joined educational initiatives, anti-drug campaigns, and charitable functions. Pura Vida extended a 1995 nomination to Grupo Alamo for Best Band of the Year. Two years afterward, the Tejano Music Awards recognized Edward Mendoza as Best Drummer and Danny Rodríguez as Best Bass Player; those musicians shared the stage with keyboardist José Lara, guitarist Ernest González, singer Roger García, and accordionist Ernie González. Grupo Alamo then issued the album Ilusiones in 1998.
