Biography
Greg Fox, previously known through his contributions to experimental outfits including Teeth Mountain and Liturgy, launched an independent path via the solo project that matured into the ensemble Guardian Alien. The multi-instrumentalist pursued a hypnotic, meditative direction that retained experimental qualities while adopting clearer structural frameworks. To realize this expansive vision, Fox recruited Liturgy guitarist Bernard Gann, bassist Eli Winograd, singer Alex Drewchin, and shahi baaja player Turner Williams, Jr. Once that core lineup formed, Guardian Alien issued their self-titled debut on Swill Children in 2011 and issued two cassette releases later the same year. The band moved to Thrill Jockey in 2012, which released their sophomore album See the World Given to a One Love Entity that year. Returning in 2014 with Spiritual Emergency, the group sustained its investigation of psychedelic rock while further testing structural boundaries.
