Biography
An American heavy metal outfit called Guardians of the Flame originated when ex-Virgin Steele guitarist Jack Starr assembled the project, taking its name from one of the band’s most recognized albums. Starr enlisted veteran collaborators including vocalist Shmoulik Avigal (ex-Picture and the Rods), bassist Ned Meloni (also of Devil Childe and Phantom Lord), and drummer Joe Hasselvander (ex-Pentagram, Raven, etc.) to cut the 2003 album Under a Savage Sky in short order. The record delivers untainted, classic heavy metal and fittingly enough appeared on the Cult Metal Classics specialty label.
