Guru Guru

Guru Guru originated in 1970 as a German progressive rock ensemble whose mainly instrumental recordings aligned the group with the movement later labeled Krautrock. Guitarist Ax Genrich, Uli Trepte, and keyboardist/drummer Mani Neumeier—who also worked with Cluster—served as the unchanging nucleus across the band’s full ten-year span, even as various other musicians rotated through the lineup. Among them were Cluster co-founder Hans-Joachim Roedelius, who contributed keyboards to the 1976 release Mani und Seine Freunde, and keyboardist Ingo Bischof, whose expanding authority continued until the group disbanded in 1979 after issuing Hey Du under the name the Guru Guru Sun Band.
