Biography
Gut und Irmler brings together the inventive forces of Berlin-based techno producer and songwriter Gudrun Gut with Faust’s Hans Joachim Irmler, both counted among Germany’s leading boundary pushers. Though the pair had planned a joint project for nearly a decade, they finally composed and tracked material at Faust’s Scheer studio in 2013, fusing the most transporting qualities of Krautrock, kosmische, and techno. The sessions yielded 500m—titled for the studio’s altitude that left Gut lightheaded during recording—which appeared the next year.
