Biography
Gutter Instinct emerged in 2012 as a punishing and resolute Swedish death metal ensemble modeled after Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, and Morbid Angel, coalescing around the core abilities of Oscar Persson, Hannes Hellman, and Thomas Ernemyr. The Helsingborg-based group followed formation with the prompt release of a demo tape that earned favorable notice. Subsequent personnel adjustments stabilized the lineup as a quintet comprising Ernemyr on vocals, Persson on guitar, Hellman on guitar, Simon Isakssn on bass, and Ola Håkansson on drums, after which Gutter Instinct secured a contract with Prosthetic Records and delivered its first EP, Insurrection. In the year that followed, the group unveiled its initial full-length studio album, Age of the Fanatics, again through Prosthetic.
