Guy Barker

Guy Barker ranks among Britain’s elite trumpeters, prized for his appealing timbre and wide-ranging musical approach; to date he has issued leader dates on the Miles Music and Spotlite imprints. After completing formal training in England he appeared alongside John Dankworth, the visiting Gil Evans, Mike Westbrook, Chris Hunter, Carla Bley, Ornette Coleman on “Skies of America,” and Clark Tracey. Barker also maintained an extensive partnership with Stan Tracey while taking part in repertory concerts. His Spotlite album Isn’t It contains a compelling reading of Bix Beiderbecke’s “In a Mist.”
