Biography
Formed as a jam band during the summer of 1997 in Connecticut, Hacha features Harold Papineau on guitar along with Chris Bell on vocals and harmonica, Mike Murphy on bass, and Charles Etienne on drums. While the four musicians were still enrolled in college, they first performed under the name Hidden Moon, then switched to Hacha by January 1998 and entered the studio to record their debut album, Meet the Tinker. The quartet spent the summer of 1998 on the road and followed up with a self-titled release the next year. Hacha has performed as an opener for the Black Crowes, the Allman Brothers, Government Mule, the Jerry Garcia Band, Roberta Flack, and Seth Yacovone, in addition to select members of those ensembles. In January 2001 the group relocated to California with hopes of achieving widespread success.
