Biography
Halsey Harkins works as a singer, songwriter, and pianist whose songs reflect careful thought and a refined aesthetic. These pieces merge adult alternative textures with jazz phrasing, while her warm and silky vocal tone situates her alongside Jessie Baylin and Norah Jones. After distributing several solo tracks, she issued her first EP recorded with supporting musicians, the self-released Darling of Mine, in 2017.
Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, Harkins continued to live there after completing jazz coursework at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts and receiving a bachelor’s degree in jazz performance from UNLV in 2015. Appearances both on and off the Strip helped her cultivate a regional audience, and public radio outlet KNPR named her Best Local Singer/Songwriter of 2016.
May 2017 brought the Piccolo Way Sessions EP, on which Harkins played keyboards unaccompanied. That October she followed with the second EP, Darling of Mine, featuring a backing band across most tracks. A sequence of original songs appeared throughout 2018, among them “Static” and “Fall In.” During the same year her vocals were included on the track “New Tide” by downtempo electronica band Youth Fables.
