Hamilton

Born in Cartagena in 1999, the Colombian Afrobeat performer Hamilton entered a modest household that nevertheless placed great value on music. His uncle Dexter Hamilton, who had found commercial traction in the early 2000s as part of Grupo BIP, sparked an early ambition to sing professionally. Immediately after completing high school, Hamilton issued his initial singles. Seeking to set himself apart from both the broader urbano scene and Cartagena’s champeta artists, he turned toward his Afro-Caribbean heritage and concentrated on Afrobeat and dancehall while occasionally incorporating reggaeton. One of his earliest tracks in this vein, “Morena,” emerged as a major success in 2019. Over the following years he continued to build an audience, relocating to Medellín to gain closer access to the industry and issuing roughly thirty singles and joint releases that highlighted his singular vocal tone and romantic outlook. His first full-length project, Los Reyes Del Mar, arrived in 2024.
