Happysad formed in the Polish city of Skarżysko-Kamienna during 2001 and quickly earned recognition as a rock outfit whose sound blends approachable melodies with rhythms rooted in reggae. The group’s first release, the 2004 album Wszystko Jedno on S.P. Records, featured singer/guitarist Kuba Kawalec alongside guitarist Lukasz Ceglinski, bassist Artur Telka, and drummer Maciek Sosnowski. Podroze z i pod Prad arrived in 2005 and registered on the Polish album charts; two years later Nieprzygoda reached the top position, by which time Jaroslaw Dubinski had replaced the original drummer. Shortly afterward the band moved to Mystic Production and documented a concert on the 2009 live set Na Zywo w STUDIO. Subsequent studio efforts Mow Mi Dobrze in 2010 and Cieplo/Zimno in 2012 both achieved strong chart results, followed in 2013 by the live recording Przystanek Woodstock 2013. The 2014 studio album Jakby Nie Było Jutra returned the group to the summit of the Polish charts.
