Biography
HARD FEELINGS unites Hot Chip member Joe Goddard with singer/songwriter Amy Douglas, delivering operatic drama onto the dance floor. Their self-titled debut from 2021 fused disco, house, synth pop, and new wave into cinematic scale.
Goddard first reached out to Douglas after hearing her commanding 2018 DFA single "Never Saw It Coming". Beyond her work alongside Horse Meat Disco and the Juan MacLean, she also contributed to Róisín Murphy’s 2020 album Róisín Machine. Their early exchanges took place remotely, with Goddard forwarding tracks that Douglas would expand through melodies and lyrics. The pair soon arrived at a sweeping sound and atmosphere shaped by Puccini arias as well as Eurythmics, the Human League, and Zola Jesus. Once they amassed enough material for a complete album, the two finished recording their debut together in London in 2019. HARD FEELINGS arrived in November 2021 on Domino.
