Biography
A trombonist of considerable skill in swing and big band settings, Betters mastered an array of techniques that encompassed vocal effects, flashy phrasing, and rapid-fire lines. He proved equally adept in a section role while also navigating bop with ease. During the early and mid-1960s Betters issued several albums, among them an unexpected two-trombone session alongside Slide Hampton in 1965.
