Biography
Harold Cavallero, whose instruments include both the Dobro and steel guitar, entered the professional ranks at thirteen after first handling a Dobro only two years earlier. Bourbon Street gigs in New Orleans followed by the time he reached fourteen. He remains active in the Crescent City alongside the Evening Star String Band, whose repertoire centers on country music as performed during the nineteen-forties and fifties. Radio jamborees across the region showcased his playing at the genre’s local peak, and he also joined road tours with major country attractions passing through town. His playing appears on the 1986 album The Country Three as well as further releases, and he has recorded with the Bluerunners. Fellow members of the Evening Star String Band are vocalist and guitarist Patrick Flory, fiddler Gina Forsyth, and Mary Howell on vocals and bass.
