Harrison Kennedy

Harrison Kennedy first earned widespread notice as the lead singer on Chairmen of the Board’s blues standard “I’m the Chairman of the Board.” Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, he later moved to Detroit, where he joined the Chairmen—an act formed under the fledgling Holland-Dozier-Holland imprint Invictus/Hot Wax. By the mid-1970s he had exited the lineup to launch a solo career. In the years that followed, his recordings drew on an eclectic range of idioms that encompassed funk, soul, R&B, folk, rock, and gospel. In 2008 he received a Juno Award nomination for Best Blues Recording in Canada.
