Havergal

Ryan Murphy records as Havergal, a name unrelated to Rian Murphy of Drag City and Chestnut Station. Working as a Texan architect and songwriter, he began composing slow-moving glitchy post-rock in the late 1990s. Between 1998 and 1999 he issued several 7" singles on his own Western Vinyl imprint as well as on Jukebox Records. Elevator Bath followed in 1999 with the 10" EP Trash. Those efforts paved the way for the full-length Lungs for the Race on Secretly Canadian. Once that album was finished Havergal stopped recording and returned from California to Texas in 2001, a move that yielded new tracks assembled as Elettricita. Secretly Canadian issued the album in May 2004.
