Hawke

Gavin Hardkiss, working as a DJ and producer, launched his Hawke project through the 1998 issuance of Namaquadisco. Born in South Africa, he relocated to the United States during the late 1980s. Exposure to the experimental music scene drew him in while he began studies at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and started frequenting various festivals across the New York region. By 1991 Gavin Hardkiss had established residence in San Francisco, where DJing and composing served as his primary outlets for musical expression. Hawke resurfaced in 2002 with the eleven-track album Heatstroke, which contained the club and dance success “Party People (We're Gonna Change the World).”
