Biography
Based in San Francisco, Hayman Hartman crafts gentle folk that incorporates subtle elements of jazz, funk, and global sounds. The duo draws from a wide array of influences to shape songs marked by sincerity, emotional depth, and heartfelt delivery, recalling the later style of Paul Simon yet avoiding its flashier drive and momentum. Maryland natives Keith Hayman and Jon Hartman, who served as the chief singer-songwriters in Mostly Water, launched the project in 2000. They assembled a repertoire exceeding fifty original pieces drawn from Hayman’s international travels and Hartman’s rock opera Spritle and His Wagon, then toured with appearances in San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Colorado, Maryland, and New York. The band issued its debut album, Day In Day Out, on Wet Records in 2002.
