Emerging from Cincinnati, Ohio, pop-rapper and reality television star Hazel-E navigated a peripatetic upbringing across multiple states because of her military family, finally establishing roots in Los Angeles. Shifting locales continually reshaped her listening habits, which at various points featured TLC, Prince, and Madonna. Relocating to Hollywood first drew her toward acting, after which she initiated her recording efforts in 2008. The next year brought the mixtape Shoe Fetish, hosted by Idris Elba and DJ Shogun, followed in 2010 by the hit single "Valley Girl." The Diary of a Valley Girl mixtape arrived in 2011, with the Girlcode album appearing the year after. In 2014 she entered the cast of Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood and became identified as the ex-girlfriend of Yung Berg, the ex-girlfriend of Katt Williams, and the ex-girlfriend of Ray J. A 2015 move to KT Music Group preceded release of the aptly titled single "Na U Kno."
