Biography
After being unceremoniously expelled from Destruction, among Germany's pioneering and most celebrated thrash metal acts, vocalist and bassist Schmier (born Marcel Schirmer) launched a fresh project under the name Headhunter. Completing the lineup were guitarist Schmuddel alongside veteran drummer Jorg Michael, whose résumé already included stints with Stratovarius, Mekong Delta, and Grave Digger. The band issued several frenetic heavy metal records that blurred the boundaries of thrash and power metal, specifically the 1990 effort Parody of Life, 1992's Bizarre Gardening Accident, and 1994's Rebirth. Schmier later stepped away for an extended hiatus to focus on running his restaurant in Weil am Rhein before returning to Destruction in 2000. In 2007 the Headhunter catalog was reissued by AFM Records, prompting the group to reform and track a successor to Rebirth, which surfaced the following year as Parasite of Society.
