Biography
Emerging from Indianapolis, Indiana toward the end of the 1990s, Healing Sixes fused the guitar-driven intensity of Led Zeppelin with Southern influences reminiscent of the Black Crowes, all built upon a solid blues base. For a four-year period the band featured Jason Bonham, son of the legendary drummer, on the kit. Their initial release, the 1999 album Maple, fell within this timeframe, as did the 2002 follow-up Enormosound. Kevin Shirley, known for his work with acts like Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, the Black Crowes, Rush, and Bon Jovi, handled production duties on the latter, while Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis fame created its cover artwork. Following Bonham’s exit, the group resurfaced with the 2006 album One Less Friend to Ignore. Subsequent personnel shifts culminated in a stable roster consisting of Doug Henthorn on vocals and guitar, Eric Saylors handling guitar and vocals, Jeff Stone on bass and vocals, and Wade Parish on drums and vocals, right before they cut their fourth full-length, Blue Jay, in 2010.
