Biography
Swedish death metal band Hearse was assembled by vocalist/bassist Johan Liiva after his dismissal from Arch Enemy. Working alongside guitarist Mattias Ljung and drummer Max Thornell, Liiva has stayed highly active, issuing multiple albums—Dominion Reptilian in 2003, Armageddon, Mon Amour in 2004, The Last Ordeal in 2005, and In These Veins in 2006—together with the EPs Torch from 2002 and Cambodia from 2005. Even so, the group’s classicist take on Swedish death metal, laced with added melody and Entombed-style “rott & roll,” has so far failed to register any notable presence in the wider metal scene.
