Heaven's Burning operates as an all-female rock and alternative pop trio able to rival most accomplished male rock acts. Angela Santiago Chung supplies vocals, bass, and guitar; Kristy Jones contributes vocals and guitar; and Myrna Trevino handles drums. Their material fuses rock foundations with punk-pop, noise pop, and alternative pop, laced with groove and intermittent guitar riffs.

The band assembled near the start of 1998 after Chung and Trevino first united and then located Jones to round out the lineup. Every member brings extensive prior training and performance experience. Chung began formal music study at age five on piano and redirected her focus to guitar at eighteen. Jones received childhood piano lessons, progressed to flute, and bought her first guitar at sixteen, which rapidly became her primary instrument. Trevino, exposed to drumming through her brother, tested the kit herself and developed an instant attachment; lessons later shaped her raw power into steady rhythm without diminishing that attachment.

During their shared history the members have dissolved the group several times, yet an underlying bond repeatedly draws them back. They have appeared at clubs throughout California. Between shows the musicians devoted substantial effort to their self-titled debut album, issued in 2000 and featuring tracks including “Death Is the Truest Love,” “In the Stillness of My Soul,” and “The Box.”
