Heavy Moss

Heavy Moss formed as a quartet in the Australian city of Geelong during 2022. The lineup features keyboardist Lucas Harwood of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard alongside drummer Sam Ingles from Atolls, singer and guitarist Kyle Tickell, and bassist Bec Goring. Their sound fuses melodic dream pop with experimental rock into heady psychedelic compositions that recall Tame Impala and the Flaming Lips while placing stronger emphasis on pop and space rock than Harwood’s other project. The group’s initial 2023 release, “Morning Milk,” reworked a track that Ingles had first issued with Atolls. Later the same year the trippy, soulful single “Summa” arrived, paving the way for the band’s debut full-length. Issued in November 2024, Dead Slow merged Harwood’s and Tickell’s songwriting approaches, with the jazzy psych-rock pulse supplied by Ingles and Goring providing additional equilibrium.
