Biography
Hechizo, the Chilean ensemble, originated in Ovalle—a northern locale—when seven area players, drawing inspiration from tropical ensembles like Sonora Palacios and Giolito y su Combo, opted to launch an independent venture. They inked a deal with the indie label Naranjo Records and cut their eponymous first LP, which spotlighted the popular track "La Temporera," named among Chile's top songs of 1998 by popular vote. Following the release of Mirada Azul, the outfit embarked on nationwide performances. In 2000, Sony Music took them aboard and put out the concert album Vivo Que Nunca, earning gold certification shortly thereafter.
