Biography
A pupil of both Dubois and Masanet, the French composer absorbed formative lessons from each master. His opera Elaine achieved notable success. Bemberg secured his place in music history with the cantata La Mort de Jeanne d'Arc (The Death of Joan of Arc), the comic opera Le Baiser de Suzon, and an extensive body of songs.
