Biography
In the early '90s hardcore scene, Heroin stood out among its defining innovators. Their debut 7" arrived in 1991 as the inaugural release on the fledgling Gravity Records label. Headquartered in San Diego, CA, the imprint would soon rank among the foremost champions of the '90s emo vanguard. Presenting an interesting, innovative, mysterious, and somewhat pretentious persona, Heroin forged remarkably dynamic landscapes from one-minute blasts of noisy vitriol.
Although the group's influence proved substantial, the recorded legacy it left remained modest. Nearly two years after that first 7", the band's sole full-length release and final album appeared in 1993. Matt Anderson later engineered and occasionally performed on various projects with A Minor Forest, Angel Hair, Kari Bunn, and Mohinder. Ron Avila kept hangin' tough with Antioch Arrow, Final Conflict, and Get Hustle.
