Biography
Chip Love, a native of Queens, New York, fronts the alternative rock group Hesher. The project fuses old-school hip-hop, funkadelic soul, and punk-rawk into rhymes delivered with unchecked force. His sour-rap growl draws from the style of Run DMC and Everlast while adding a layer of childlike humor. Early onstage energy convinced him that music was his true vocation, prompting him to abandon a day job filling toothpaste tubes. He first served as spliff coordinator for Bad Brains, then appeared in the rap fusion outfits Shining Path and Roguish Armament. Hesher opened Woodstock '94 and completed 500 shows across the Midwest in a two-year span. That persistence resulted in the self-titled debut album issued by Warner Brothers in fall 2000.
