Biography
Jonathan Segel, a multi-instrumentalist formerly of Camper Van Beethoven, guided the free-form underground rock ensemble Hieronymus Firebrain as a direct outgrowth of his 1989 solo album Storytelling that retained many of the same supporting players. The band delivered its self-titled debut album on the Delta label in 1991, yet repeated roster changes soon left Segel as the only original participant; a refreshed lineup then put out the 1994 albums There and Here before the group dissolved. Segel and drummer Russ Blackmar soon reconvened in the trio Jack & Jill.
