HighSchool has cultivated a following through an array of infectious singles and EPs alongside a commanding presence onstage, channeling echoes of European post-punk lineages spanning the 1980s through the 2000s.

Siblings Rory and Lilli Trobbiani joined forces with Luke Scott—who had known Rory from their days working at adjacent eateries in Australia’s capital—to establish the band in Melbourne. During the COVID-19 pandemic the trio developed their material in private, arriving at an enduring alt-rock palette defined by Rory’s resonant guitar lines and remote vocals, Luke’s concise bass work, and Lilli’s keyboard layers. Their initial releases “Frosting” and “New York, Paris and London” revealed a group already possessed of a clear artistic identity despite their brief existence. After inking a deal with U.K. imprint Dalliance, Rory and Luke relocated to Britain to support the 2021 debut EP Forever at Last, while Lilli joined them onstage temporarily before returning home to complete her studies, reducing the lineup to a duo.

The band quickly gained notice for its vigorous live shows, appearing at multiple European festivals and opening for CHVRCHES, Mitski, Wet Leg, and additional acts. Following the 2022 single “Only a Dream” and the 2023 single “Colt,” Trobbiani and Scott retreated to create further material. The resulting EP Accelerator emerged in spring 2024 via Home, the Australian division of veteran indie [PIAS].
