U.K.-based singer/songwriter Ed Riman records under the name Hilang Child, crafting atmospheric pop that layers expansive textures with rich vocal harmonies. Through expansive tracks such as those on the 2021 album Every Mover, he examines formative personal episodes via spacious arrangements that merge finely etched electronic details, dreamy piano lines, and woodwind parts.

Born in South London to a Welsh-Indonesian family, Riman chose a Malay phrase meaning “missing child” as his alias. He first played drums before shifting focus to songwriting and the creation of songs and soundscapes, issuing the EP First Writings in 2013 and the single “The Garth Waterman” the following year, both on Third Rock Recordings. Former Cocteau Twins member Simon Raymonde noticed the material and asked Riman to appear on Ojalá, the 2017 album by Raymonde’s Lost Horizons project alongside Richie Thomas of Dif Juz. Riman subsequently joined the roster of Raymonde’s Bella Union imprint and delivered the largely self-produced debut Years in 2018, featuring contributions from Kwes. and trumpeter Yazzmin Newell. The mainly acoustic and piano-driven Stripped.Rebuilt EP followed in 2019, after which a series of 2020 singles paved the way for the early-2021 arrival of Every Mover.
