Hissing

Hissing, a Pacific Northwest metal outfit, first appeared in 2014 bearing an expansive yet punishing approach grounded in the conventions of black and death metal. Headquartered in Seattle, the band centers on Zach Wise (bass/vocals), Joe O’Malley (guitar), and Sam Pickel (drums), who launched their venture into black metal’s further reaches via Permanent Destitution, the 2018 album issued by Profound Lore. The same trio sharpened its broad blackened-death palette on the unsettling 2022 effort Hypervirulence Architecture.
