Hjort Anders Olsson stands as a towering figure in Swedish folk traditions, recognized as one of the premier fiddle virtuosos during the initial decades of the twentieth century. His introduction to the instrument occurred prior to the advent of sound recording capabilities. Originating from the modest hamlet of Bingsjö in Sweden during 1865, he drew substantial inspiration from the fiddling style of Pekkos Per. By the dawn of the 1900s, Olsson had reached the age of forty-four. His entries into recording studios commenced throughout the 1910s and persisted all the way to 1952, at which point he had attained his late eighties before his demise. Listeners can access the instrumentalist's performances via the expansive three-CD collection titled Hjort Anders Olsson, issued by the Giga label based in Sweden.
