HollAnd stood out as the primary pseudonym employed by electronic pop singer and composer Trevor Kampmann, who earlier appeared as a teen actor in guest spots on shows such as Little House on the Prairie, Who's the Boss?, and Charles in Charge. Kampmann first pursued professional skateboarding, then traveled widely across the United States before establishing himself in Washington, D.C., where he took up computer graphics design. After completing an initial set of recordings, he chose the See Saw moniker for his lo-fi debut album ...And Its Head Popped Off, issued in 1995 by Simple Machines. The 1996 album Magnetophone appeared under the See Saw credit, after which Kampmann stated that subsequent material would carry the Magnetophone name, yet he proceeded to work mainly as hollAnd. That project began with the 1997 album Your Orgasm, followed in 1998 by the limited-edition Soundtrack for Synthetic Voices and the Commercial collaboration involving Flowchart participants; he also supplied productions for the Rondelles on The Fox and for Aden on Black Cow ahead of the early-2000 EP Neoprene: So Tight. Early in 2001 came the Drums EP together with the founding of Kampmann’s pulCec imprint. For most of the ensuing decade hollAnd receded while Kampmann focused on studio engineering and mastering for releases by Cat Power, Barcelona, and Explosions in the Sky. Teen Beat put out the two-song hollAnd single I Blow Up in 2010.
