Biography
Hollow Ship emerged from Gothenburg, Sweden, as a groove-oriented psychedelic outfit that fuses the progressive leanings of Pink Floyd and King Crimson with funky Afro-pop rhythms and contemporary sonic elements. Their first full-length statement arrived in 2020 via the album Future Remains.
The project originated in a series of psych-rock improvisations shared by frontman Thomas Frank and guitarist Vincent Vensal. Bassist Johannes Cronquist and drummer Mårten Magnefors soon entered the fold, allowing the musicians to develop loosely structured pieces during live performances. The group then entered Welfare Sounds, producer Daniel Johansson’s Gothenburg facility, where his guidance shifted emphasis toward the rhythm section and blended modern production approaches with vintage techniques. Shortly after those sessions wrapped, Hollow Ship secured a deal with Swedish indie label PNKSLM Records, at which point guitarist Axel Jonsson stepped in for Vensal and keyboardist Lisa Kylsberg came aboard. Future Remains reached listeners in early 2020.
