Biography
Holly Hofmann, a skilled bop-oriented flutist, first took up the instrument at age five. Extensive classical studies formed the foundation of her technique, yet after relocating to San Diego in 1984 she shifted to performing jazz on a full-time basis. Engagements with James Moody, Slide Hampton, and Mundell Lowe, along with other leading players, preceded her debut recording for Capri in 1989. She later issued additional straight-ahead sessions on Jazz Alliance in 1992 and on Azica, while fronting her own ensembles and maintaining a steady presence on San Diego stages.
