Biography
Home Grown came together as a pop-punk outfit in 1993 within Orange County, CA. The initial lineup featured singer/bassist Adam Lohrbach, singer/guitarist John "John E. Trash" Tran, guitarist Ian Cone, and drummer Bob Herco. Their first appearance arrived in 1995 when "Mean Street" landed on the Liberation Records compilation Punk Sucks, and the same imprint put out the band's full-length debut That's Business before the year closed. The EP Wusappaning?! arrived the next year, after which the group moved to the major label Outpost and issued Act Your Age in 1998. Two years later came the split EP Connection with Limbeck along with the standalone EP Phone Home, the latter issued via Fueled by Ramen. At that stage the band had slimmed to a trio of Lohrbach, Tran, and drummer Darren Reynolds (ex-Longfellow). In June 2001 they signed with Drive-Thru Records, and shows alongside Millencolin paved the way for the label's first release from the group, the 2002 album Kings of Pop. Second guitarist Dan Hammond joined shortly afterward, prompting an extended run of touring that included multiple stops on that summer's Warped Tour. A more mature EP, When It All Comes Down, surfaced in October 2004 and largely set aside the earlier comedic tone. Lohrbach left in early 2005 to start New Years Day, and although the others carried on briefly with a replacement bassist, the band entered hiatus by 2006 while its members turned to separate endeavors.
