Biography
Kaley Honeycutt shapes the surf-tinged indie pop associated with Honey Cutt, where her reflective and emotionally exposed words often stand in contrast to bright, upbeat textures. Previously operating for a short time as Baby!, the project issued its initial Honey Cutt release, Coasting, during 2020.
Born in Asheville, North Carolina, the singer and guitarist has composed material for as long as memory serves. Her family shifted to Orlando, Florida, once she reached eight, although she waited until age 21 before presenting her songs at modest local spaces. When college funding ceased, she left her studies behind and devoted greater focus to songwriting and recording.
After settling in Boston, Massachusetts, she assembled Baby!, which carried her buoyant, nostalgic indie pop into New England. The group released the EP Pick Me in April 2017 and followed it that August with the full-length Sunny, F.L., shaped by her Orlando experiences. Baby! built a regional audience and advanced from basement performances to support slots with Gus Dapperton and Calpurnia, yet persistent name overlaps with other touring and online acts prompted a rebrand to Honey Cutt in May 2018.
Working with former Baby! members Ari Blut on bass and Chris Chew on drums, Honey Cutt delivered its debut album, Coasting, through Kanine Records in March 2020, paired with a headlining U.S. tour.
