Between 1931 and 1941, blues pianist George "Honey" Hill recorded multiple tracks with blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist Bill Gaither on the Decca and Okeh labels. Because Gaither maintained a close friendship with blues pianist Leroy Carr, the Gaither and Hill partnership deliberately mirrored the style and format established by Carr and guitarist Scrapper Blackwell, even adopting the billing Leroy's Buddy on selected sessions.
