Biography
Hookers & Blow, an all-star covers outfit rooted in hard rock and heavy metal, was established in 2003 by Dizzy Reed, the keyboard player from Guns N' Roses, and Alex Grossi, guitarist for Quiet Riot, with the explicit aim of securing “an excuse to drink for free in Hollywood.” Conceived at first as a casual diversion, the project gradually developed into a sustained professional enterprise, prompting the group to undertake nationwide tours and maintain regular residencies at storied Hollywood venues including the Whiskey A Go Go. Supported across the years by a shifting roster of veteran players that has included Todd Kerns (Slash), Chip Z’ Nuff (Enuff Z’ Nuff), Mike Dupke (W.A.S.P.), Scott Griffin (L.A. Guns), Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative, Danzig), Mike Duda (W.A.S.P.), Nadja, and comedian Don Jamieson, among others, the band issued its self-titled debut covers album in 2021 through Golden Robot Records.
