Biography
Multi-instrumentalist Jason Ball conceived Hopeful Monster as his personal project. Having previously collaborated with outfits including By Divine Right, Living Water Assembly, and Spoondaisies, he pursued his individual vision inside Nervous System Studio throughout the first half of 2001. The resulting recordings produced both a new ensemble and a contract with Brobdingnagian Records of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Spring 2002 brought the self-titled debut, which presented Hopeful Monster’s richly dramatic approach to sound.
