Biography
Sweden's Horse Show fuses dark, driving post-punk, shoegaze, and literate indie rock. The band formed from players previously active in Fews, Hater, Yast, Simian Ghost, and related groups. Drummer Erik Klinga of Simian Ghost and Light Vibes had nursed the concept for years yet only succeeded in uniting the stylistically varied musicians he sought after settling in Malmö in early 2020. He gave the project its tongue-in-cheek name in reference to the annual Falsterbo Horse Show held nearby and, within weeks of arrival, invited the founding lineup: vocalist and guitarist Caroline Landahl from Hater, bassist and vocalist Tobias Widman from Yast and Purrpurr, and the two Fews members guitarist Frederick Rundqvist and synth specialist Frederick Rundqvist. The musicians arranged Malmö concerts for April 2020, but pandemic closures halted live plans, prompting them instead to enter Studio Sicken with producer Joakim Lindberg. Their urgent five-song debut EP, Falsterbo, was laid to tape in a single day and issued by PNKSLM in December 2021.
