Biography
The rap-metal ensemble known for its eccentricity, Hot Sauce Johnson, came together in Hollywood during 1997. Guitarist Rob Asuncion, bassist Jason DeCosta, and drummer Possum Hill ran an ad in search of a singer. Following an extended period reviewing candidates, they chose Sun Sannes as their lead vocalist. Trumpeter Ireesh Lal and DJ None joined shortly thereafter, allowing the collective's ambition to merge hip-hop with hard-rock and rural twang—something they labeled "jug hop"—to take shape. After inking a deal with Outpost, the band put out their first full-length album, Truck Stop Jug Hop, around the middle of 1999.
