Biography
Mike Vince, a Houston-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, performs and records under the name Hotel Ugly. He launched the project in 2019 alongside his brother Chris, merging catchy indie pop hooks with relaxed, modern R&B textures. Their debut single, "Shut Up My Moms Calling," achieved viral status in 2020 and accumulated millions of streams on various platforms. Additional tracks followed in 2021, among them the successes "The Ballad of Eddie Jabuley" and "Stevie Doesn't Wonder." Following a West Coast tour in 2022, Chris departed, leaving Mike as the only remaining member. The summery, Latin-tinged indie pop confection "Action Figures Fighting" surfaced the next year.
