Biography
House and Land is a North Carolina-based folk duo that filters traditional Appalachian folk music through contemporary compositional methods. Multi-instrumentalists Sarah Louise Henson (12-string guitar, shruti box, bouzouki, vocals) and Black Twig Pickers and Pelt alum Sally Anne Morgan (fiddle, banjo, shruti box, vocals) established the project. The pair came together through a mutual passion for traditional mountain songs alongside modern experimental and minimal music, resulting in a captivating take on ten classic Southern hymns and Appalachian ballads for their self-titled debut album, issued by Thrill Jockey in 2017.
