Housewives

The Housewives comprise comedy writer and lyricist Hope Juber, vocalist Maggie Mayall, and composer, singer, and actress Lisa Harrison. The trio converts the routine chores of domestic life into witty songs that amuse listeners of either gender.

Juber, spouse of acoustic guitarist Laurence Juber, appeared as one of Greg Brady’s girlfriends on The Brady Bunch and later supplied scripts for the comedies The Brady Brides and The Munsters Today. Mayall sang with Harvey Mandell’s band prior to joining bluesman John Mayall for appearances on television and radio as well as on recordings. Harrison first attracted notice as a regular cast member of The Waltons and later accumulated stage experience while touring as both dancer and singer with the Celebrity USO Tour.

In their collective guise the three women have been featured on the programs Entertainment Tonight, Oprah, The Home Show, and Hard Copy. The group issued its debut album, Get the Dirt, in 1995 on Beachwood Records; the collection contains the comic tracks “I’ve Been Defrosting All Day,” “Permanent Wave,” “Ironing Bored,” and “Football Widow.” Favorable notices followed in Glamour, Family Circle, the Los Angeles Times, and Music Connection.
