Formed in Columbus, Ohio, the quartet Howlin' Maggie brings together multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Harold Chichester alongside guitarist Andy Harrison, bassist Jim Rico, and drummer Jerome Dillon. As a seasoned figure in the music business, Chichester has collaborated with the Afghan Whigs both on recordings and during live performances, while also maintaining a separate endeavor known as the Twilight Singers alongside the Whigs' vocalist Greg Dulli. In 1996, Columbia Records issued the group's first full-length effort, Honeysuckle Strange. Despite its wealth of varied influences and striking originality, the record achieved minimal commercial traction, leaving the ensemble's prospects for future releases in doubt.
